What Haunts Us
The 19th ethnocineca interrogates memory, migration, and postcolonial trauma.
The 19th edition of ethnocineca – International Documentary Film Festival Vienna kicks off today, running from 8 to 14 May 2025, with a resonant program under the thematic focus HAUNTINGS. With 53 films from 33 countries, this year’s lineup promises to unsettle, illuminate, and inspire. From Jacqueline Nsiah’s opening keynote on the enduring spectres of colonialism to bold explorations of displacement, nationalism, and memory, ethnocineca continues to carve space for radical documentary forms and politically urgent storytelling.
